2026: There are no INS and OUTS, only authentic desires or egoic bs
Here are mine, what are yours?
Literally who cares what is IN or OUT, the granular minutiae of “trends” and other people’s groupthink psychosis is none of my business! All these lists are just people’s own desires put through a fun house mirror anyway. I once had a mentor of sorts tell me it’s not what you do but why you do it and I think that’s an incredibly valuable rubric to look at your life through. Free yourself from the shackles of “should.” What brings you happiness? Like real happiness, not the kind driven by the idea that if you post the thing on social media people will be like oooh wowww I love this person now I am actually in love with them (all egoic desires root back down to something pure like, I just want to be loved, which is like, well yes of course!).
Related: I feel like resolutions have been unfairly villainized because they got conflated with unrelenting optimization (bad) instead of what they’re meant to be: aspirations towards a more resonant and nourishing existence (good).
Anyway here is what I desire for 2026 (also posted it on IG, might sky-write it over LA, NY, and London too, so what!). What do you desire?
2026 Desires
Speak at or do events at some colleges + universities
Devotion to baths
Have a monthly column at a fabulous publication
Learn more about my parents
Spend more time listening to new music
Better relationship to time (a chill, easy goal)
More privacy
Get into Pink Floyd
Wear more high heels
Make another t-shirt and perhaps a hat
Host at least three dinner parties
Reclaim some or all of my withered attention span
Learn to knit
Shop more intentionally and less aspirationally
More raw dog walks
Make a lot of adventurous and bold new soups
Yoga retreat
Be brave
Thanks for reading this newsletter this year. I hope you still want to read more in 2026 and I hope you get most (but not all!) of what you desire next year. Happy new year.
xx

more of goddamn gorgeous beautiful shirts in 2026 would be 🔥, too. to a happy and healthy new year.
Happy New Year, Yasi. Thanks for your great work and the humor and authenticity behind it all. I particularly like thinking of soups being bold and adventurous. There was an all soup restaurant that I used to go to which featured something like 10 different soups a day. It was magical and overwhelming at the same time. Thought you should know
