yasipedia #7: Harry Bosch, things enchanted, and No Doubt
Welcome back to yasipedia to everyone but especially the paid subscribers who make it possible for me to order Sugarfish after a 12 hour day in the google doc mines.
Yes it is Sunday not Friday or even Thursday but you know what lately I am on some serious let it flow shit…watch what happens, live, if you will…NAJV for the real heads. My therapist and I discussed it and I was like damn it’s almost as if…if you just let go and get on with it, things are for the most part awesome? And you know what she said? She said something something something “things enchanted.” THINGS ENCHANTED. Say it a few times. Mean it. Believe it. So yeah it’s Sunday not Friday but yesterday I had to watch 6-8 hours of Bosch and today I had to lay in the sun reading about Edie Sedgwick for a few hours before tapping this out. You know why? Because things enchanted bitch.
What I’m into rn:
also this new song from my friend Ryder who makes music under the name r(ea)lm is summery 90s perfection
going to Target and sitting in the parking lot with a venti Starbucks and making this TikTok even though it kinda sucks (imagine being “good” at TikTok! simply couldn’t be me)
the aforementioned detective tv show Bosch (he is so hot do they even make men like this anymore?)
being a girl
getting rockegnized at the Porn Hub awards
I know I said I would deliver a scene report but honestly I personally didn’t recognize anyone I just wore my Operation Ivy shirt, smoked some cigs, ate every available snack that passed by (the mini chicken tacos were particularly good) and shoved about nine of the free CBD joints into my purse before leaving.
Okay with no rhyme reason or narrative here is some extra texture for the No Doubt episode I did with Miss Bethany Cosentino, who one listener noted is a fantastic guest because it seems like we are really good friends.
No Doubt in 1992

This is one of my favorite photos of Gwen. A thing I really connected with when doing this episode was just the sheer exuberance around femininity I felt coming from Gwen, which I think is really captured in this photo, and was something I didn’t realize I so desperately needed to connect with myself.
here’s an insane video of Matthew Wilder, the man who produced Tragic Kingdom, performing his 1983 smash hit “Break My Stride” on Top of the Pops (still goes tbh)
“Spiderwebs” is about one of these guys (the Deux Moi of 90s alt rock goss strikes again!!!)
Here’s No Doubt performing “Just A Girl” at MTV Spring Break, introduced by Jenny McCarthy
Here’s Terry Hall of The Specials looking like an absolute snack in the “Sunday Morning” video (may he rest in peace)
Here’s the just Gwen SPIN cover that inspired the “Don’t Speak” music video creative
Here’s a flyer for the Bush headlining tour that No Doubt (and my beloved Goo Goo Dolls) opened on
"I wasn't looking to go out with a boy in a band-especially one who's that good-looking. I'm usually attracted to guys with good personalities, ones that make me laugh. That's what I think is sexy-not some dude with flowing curls who's tall and gorgeous." - Gwen in YM Magazine, 1997
here is the video for “Oi To The World,” the second best original holiday song ever
here’s No Doubt performing with Terry Hall in 1997
