Have you read The Last Supper: Art, Faith, Sex & Controversy in the 1980s by Paul Elie? He’s talking a lot about “crypto-religion” that artists, particularly musicians (he talks a lot about U2) infuse into their work in a way that indicates faith and religion without overtly declaring themselves Christian artists. I don’t the term is his… borrowed from another text but it’s interesting! I’m about halfway through right now. Love the pod! ✨
Glad to see our reappraisals of The Fray are happening at the same time.
I saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee two weeks ago and genuinely had so much fun that I listened to the "How to Save A Life" album more in the last two weeks than I probably did in the last two years.
Relatedly, they played the new song "My Heart's A Crowded Room" during that set. It was fun, and also the current lead singer (who is not the original guy) walked through the audience during it- I'm sure you can find some kind of pseudo-spiritual connection there.
thx for spinning forty winks 🥹
It’s good!

Shout-out to the Red House Painters' take on the Cars' "All Mixed Up"--maybe history's greatest sad-boy cover version.

Lifehouse’s album No Name Face, which has “Hanging By A Moment,” is a no-skips album for me honestly.
